Elgin sits out where Richland County gives way to Kershaw, surrounded by pine forest and built up mostly with newer track home development from the last couple decades. The sandy soil out here drains faster than the clay closer to Columbia, which actually helps keep crawlspaces drier, but a lot of these homes are on well water and that brings its own humidity considerations depending on the season.
